Ruth and Chris’s classy wedding took place on a gorgeous summer evening in San Francisco in 2018. Their ceremony and reception at the Julia Morgan Ballroom was an elegant fairy tale full of fresh flowers, stylish paper butterflies, and plenty of candlelight. Their floral decor was refined and featured quintessential wedding flowers like peonies, ranunculus, and roses.
Personal Flowers – Bouquets and Boutonnieres
Ruth held a bouquet of peonies, blush and vintage pink roses, spray roses, and ranunculus designed in the elegant, classy round shape with no greens. Since the bride is very petit, the bouquet size was reduced to look appropriate. Her bridesmaids carried petite versions of the bridal bouquet.
Christ and his groomsmen wore simple blush ranunculus boutonnieres, which perfectly matched the bouquets. The mothers of the bride and groom wore cheery corsages of white orchids and pink spray roses on a nice beaded bracelet.
Wedding Ceremony at The Julia Morgan Ballroom
Large centerpieces on white pedestals placed by the mantel created the elegant, classy look for the indoor wedding ceremony. The aisle was adorned with silk flowers petals making waves. The isle opened with 2 more centerpieces on pedestals to create a statement for this beautiful ceremony.
Wedding reception in the Julia Morgan Ballroom
Since it was a flip-over wedding, which means the ceremony and the reception takes place in one room, the dinner followed the ceremony with only a short break of 40 minutes during which all needed to be changed. The crew set up tables, dance floor, plates, and glasses, meanwhile, the silk petals need to be collected and flowers placed onto the tables. All that happens with a collaboration among the vendors to make the reception site reopen the doors for guests.
Wedding centerpieces made in white and blush colors, composed of hydrangea, peonies, roses, spray roses, touches of grey foliage, and butterflies. We made the 2 sizes of centerpieces – hight and low. The eight hight centerpieces created the ceremony look, then were placed on tables framing the dance floor. The low centerpieces complemented the big ones in colors and flower selection.
For the Sweetheart table, we reused the brides and bridesmaids’ bouquets keeping it simple and minimalistic.
Why do we call it the Butterfly wedding? There were many butterflies in centerpieces, in escort cards, and even a tree in the welcome zone encouraged the guest to leave their wishes on little paper butterflies. Here below you can see provided samples or mock-ups for the brides:
Additional Decor – Welcome Area
When the guest came in the Julia Morgan Ballroom, first they saw a large welcome table arrangement that set the mood of the wedding. Then the guests mingled to other rooms, and the welcome area provided some activities for the guests.
Congratulations to Ruth and Chris and thank you to Still Nation Photography for capturing such beautiful photos!
